Cross-Border Asset Planning
For individuals who hold, or are about to hold, assets in more than one country.

Scope
An engagement starts from a statement of what the client owns, where it is held, and the objective: for example, moving funds between Australia and offshore, repatriating funds after living overseas, or setting up a holding structure for children resident elsewhere.
The deliverable is a written note covering what is held in each jurisdiction, what changes on a residency event, the pressure points (currency, tax residency, transfer timing, reporting obligations), and which items require a registered tax agent or lawyer. The firm does not implement.
Exclusions
The firm does not give personal financial product advice, does not open or move accounts, does not recommend specific funds, shares, properties or currencies, and does not provide Australian or overseas tax advice. Those items are referred to registered professionals.
When to engage
Engage before a cross-border move, after a recent move, or when existing multi-jurisdiction assets have never been documented. The output is a one-off scoped memo, not an ongoing retainer.
Common questions about cross-border planning
Do I need to be living offshore to engage you?
No. Most of our clients are Australian tax residents who hold, or are considering, assets in another country. We also work with people returning to Australia who need to understand how existing overseas holdings fit into a local structure. The planning is relevant whether you are leaving, arriving, or staying.
Will you recommend specific offshore investments, funds or products?
No. We do not recommend, sell or arrange any financial product. We map the structure and the decision points; product selection is done by a licensed adviser you choose. This keeps our advice independent and means we are not paid by any provider.
How is this different from a regular financial adviser?
A licensed adviser gives you personal product advice and can recommend investments. We provide structural research and reference analysis: where assets should sit, what changes on residency, and which questions your tax agent and lawyer need to answer. We coordinate with your existing professionals rather than replace them.
Do I need to have already decided my tax residency before starting?
Not necessarily. A large part of our work is clarifying what residency means for your specific situation, because the tax outcome changes materially depending on it. We will tell you where residency must be settled by a registered agent, and we map the rest around that.
How long does a planning engagement take?
Most scoped engagements run to a written memo within two to four weeks. It is a one-off piece of work, not an ongoing portfolio retainer. If implementation later requires lawyers or lenders, we introduce you and step back.
